Work day! How do you make your work tolerable? Do you enjoy your job? It’s easy to glorify work you don’t do, to look at other people’s lives and wish you could do what they do. I think the truth is all jobs suck. All jobs suck at least some of the time. It’s pretty often I’m told by people that they’d love to do what I do and get to spend time outdoors and running. But the hard truth is that my work usually requires me to work indoors and on a computer. That’s why I have this treadmill desk— I can easily get in 15-25 miles a day just walking! In fact 90% of my work is desk work: phone calls, website building, spreadsheets, emails, social media, marketing, working with sponsors and employees because I am a businesswoman and my work is a business. I don’t get to run all day or workout all day and play. I fit it in because I have to for my sanity and it’s often hard to do during busy days and race season working at my desk. My main work is my race organization business @destinationtrailraces with 10 events throughout the year consisting of over 700 miles of trails, thousands of runners, mind boggling logistics and endless permits. Lucky for me I have an awesome team that makes up the business including Kristal, Riley, Samantha, Todd and a number of other folks. I also manage a few smaller businesses on the side, my podcast @humansofultrarunning, my competitive running, and some rentals making me one busy entrepreneur! There is no such thing as balance, but I have learned to take time for myself and for my kids, as business is always hungry for attention and will eat you alive if you don’t have boundaries. #runnersofinstagram#ultrarunner#humansofultrarunning#run#treadmill#treadmilldesk#walkandwork#RDlife#racedirector#trailrunning#trailrunner#business#entrepreneur#entrepreneurmindset#entrepreneurwoman
Dieting VS performance weight management.
I’ve always raced a bit on the heavier side being 73 Kgs when I ran my marathon where i qualified for Boston and recently when I ran the TCS 10k .
Having time on my hand before my next training I decided to utilise the time to drop some weight . I cut my portion sizes and the calorific density of the foods and I could see the changes instantaneously I dropped more than 3 kgs in a matter of 3 weeks . I was ecstatic as I felt lighter and quicker however this drastic approach caught up to me by the end of 3 week running more than 40 mins dreaded me my recovery times increased multi fold unaware of why I kept blaming the weather and humidity luckily @fuelyourtransformation was able to understand what was happening to me and she managed to knock some sense into me last week has been one of the strongest week so far despite the humidity and the scorching Ahmedabad heat I was able to manage 100kms over the week of which 50kms were over the weekend and I already feel recovered and ready to take on the coming week .
I was aware about the difference between dieting and performance weight management however it was only when I experienced both sides of it I understood how critical it is.
All your #HopperHalfClockHustle runs were so inspiring this weekend! Remember to submit your distance if you want to appear in the official results https://tinyurl.com/hopper6hour
Hops joined me for 3 miles today 💛
The purpose of training is to tighten up the slack, toughen the body, and polish the spirit. - Morihei Ueshiba
After a week with several GORGEOUS “summer” mountain runs and a wonderful new job offer, my spirit feels pretty polished and shiny and bright. ✨
Still working on tightening up the slack and toughening the body but my first 100+ km week in a very very long time is a step in the right direction!! 🏃🏻♀️💪🏼💥
Hoping I can keep this momentum rolling through a transition into my new job and completely new schedule (mon-fri) with no opportunity for mid week adventures anymore but the chance for so much growth makes it all so worth it!! .
Embrace the journey folks!! 🤗 That’s what it all about!! .
l WEEK 14 • 73 KM TRAIL | 🇦🇨 3 weeks before my 73kms 💀
🇫🇷 Tic Tac, Tic Tac.
