[Monday Motivation]. Looking back on 2018, I raced only five times, three marathons and two half-marathons, fewer races, but better quality of performance👊🏻. Tokyo🇯🇵 was my fastest race ever, the course is amazing, the weather was perfect (I like it really cold❄️) and crossing the 30k in 1:52, gave me the confidence that I can definitely run a 2:36/2:37🔥on a great day, it´s just a matter of time😉! Then in April I ran Boston💙🦄, and I came out with a 273rd overall, on a race with such high profile runners, it felt quite awesome.
I never imagined I would finish a marathon faster than Shalane Flanagan or Molly Huddle.
The effort on that day was of HEROIC levels, with the weather conditions🌨️🌬️, I´m sure on a normal day I could have ran quite fast on that day, I felt amazing.
This was one of my best performances ever, that 2:44 tasted like a sub 2:40, I can´t wait to be back in Boston and see what surprise we have in 2019.And finally New York🗽, this marathon taught me the biggest lesson, coming into the race I came with one of my best training cycles, really lean like 8% body fat and with no significant injuries.
I was even a bit overconfident that I was going to break 2:40 no problem😅, I felt so good, why wouldn´t I?
And then on race day, I realized that if your body is not 100% on race day, there is only so much you can force it, the marathon will make sure to humble you down!
I´ll take this as a huge motivator for 2019, make sure I take in all the learnings and improve myself next year!
There was a time I would have looked at this picture and picked myself apart. And once that was done, I would have just trashed it.
Today, I look at this picture and am so proud of the strong body that carried this chick through 5 marathons. I look and see happiness, love, and fierce determination. I’ve come so far from where I once was and continue to grow every single day. 💗
