Highway travelers work around an iceberg to get back to their colony of hungry chicks. Emperor penguins pick up a lot of speed once they start gliding on their bellies as opposed to waddling along like the flightless birds they are. Their colony was about 6 miles from the ice edge and they covered this distance in less than an hour.
