Paolo de Marchi story began in Piedmont where his family had a small Barolo winery.
They moved to Chianti in the 1950s, when Paolo's father acquired two small adjoining estates, ‘Isole’ and ‘Olena’, so Isole e Olena was born.
In 1976, at the age of 25, Paolo took over the property, and 5 years later created his first 100% Sangiovese wine, Cepparello. Unfortunately he couldn't label it as Chianti because at the time Chianti wines were legally required to include white grapes in the blend. But he strongly believe in the purity and great potential of Sangiovese and decided to follow his own philosophy 🍇 #DrinkStories
