Traveling alone has its perks: We get to do what we want, when we want, discover new and honest things about the world and ourselves, and enjoy an uplifting, mindful traveling experience without someone else’s influences. It may sound like a solitary experience, but the logistics of navigating foreign situations on our own naturally leads to meeting new people. Once in my solo traveling experiences, I started putting myself in a situation that let me meet people while traveling, I booked a private room through @airbnb in Milan. I have been traveling to many countries and stayed in the best hotels/ apartments in my life and guess what, this place fit in my top 5 experiences. As for me, who would rather live in the previous century, I let myself be taken back, as this is possible in this little world amidst the Milan skyscrapers. In the 1920-built apartment, I walked around on parquette and antique floor tiles and sat on a leather couch indulging into a conversation about life, art and creative expression with the very special host, Luca. Beside that this place is super nice, Luca is a magical person. He is as free as a bird, faithful yet detached, committed yet relaxed, he is passionate yet platonic.
“You’re still young, fly high do what you really love, travel far, find your home, be whoever you want to be. I changed my life directions many, many times and I couldn’t be happier now.” Luca — someone who doesn’t like football but once worked for Diego Maradona, now is a book writer and scriptwriter for Hollywood movies — said to me.
The beauty of solo traveling isn’t just in where you leave your footsteps, it’s also in the friends and connections you collect along the path. #loltravels
I think self-love is really important. Taking care of your own needs is something people need to do, whether it’s listening to music in the bath to escape the world, or remembering to have breakfast. Doing something different with your hair, or recognising you have achieved something good today, however small.
She remembered getting lost in Venice, the only place in this world that seem like fabrics of enchantment piled to heaven. The scrumptious Venetian lunch at La Zucca, a super refreshing glass of spritz, boat ride to the Belmond Cipriani, and a wander through the Rialto Bridge. Memories that last a lifetime.
